Students learned the effects of unhealthy snacking and how to REPLACE unhealthy snacks with healthy eating at a Ninja Creamy Nutrition Workshop on Dec. 9.
A slide presentation stressed the importance of replacing some unhealthy snacks, rather than cutting them all out.
Following the presentation, students participated in an activity where they measured and weighed out the amount of sugar in snacks and drinks they consume regularly such as Fanta soda, Sprite, Gatorade, Welch's fruit snacks, Takis, etc.
Finally, students were given ice cream that FSCS Treatment Coordinator Giovanna Guzman, FSCS nutritionist Kelli Petit, and others made with the ninja cream made up of cherries, mangoes, and oat milk. After the students enjoyed the ice cream, presenters pointed out that there are ways to still savor snacks they like, but in a healthier manner, just like the presenters did with the ice cream.
